The original painting came to be because the DOW hit 10,000 for the first time. I was given a crystal ball and used it to distort the number 10,000. That Wall Street Journal is dated March 30, 1999, the day after the event.
The Financial Times, also having it’s place in this kind of painting, was mainly used for color. Observant viewers, familiar with Martha’s Vineyard, might recognize the Vineyard Gazette atop the stack.
